Intro to Painting Murals

Have you always wanted to paint a mural in your home, office or community space but don’t know where to start? This 5-part workshop series will give you all the skills you need to paint your own original murals!

Each class meeting begins with a painting warm-up/tutorial and includes plenty of time for questions and fun. All materials provided and no experience is necessary. Signing up for all 5 class meetings is encouraged but not required.

Thursday August 13th: Mural Painting for Absolute Beginners – Class 1 of 5

The first meeting of our five-week mural workshop will focus on design ideas, selecting a good mural wall and properly preparing it for painting. 

Thursday August 20th: Mural Painting for Absolute Beginners – Class 2 of 5

 The second meeting of our five-week mural workshop will focus on getting acquainted with all the supplies you’ll need to successfully paint your mural; choosing your color palette; finalizing your shopping list; and practicing using mural tools on a small mural wall. 

 Thursday August 27th: Mural Painting for Absolute Beginners – Class 3 of 5

 The third meeting of our five-week mural workshop will focus on strategies for scaling up your mural image to wall size through a variety of methods, and practicing each one. 

 Thursday September 3rd: Mural Painting for Absolute Beginners – Class 4 of 5

 The fourth meeting of our five-week mural workshop will focus on the process and cadence of painting – from taping to priming to background to foreground to finishing! 

Thursday September 10th: Mural Painting for Absolute Beginners – Class 5 of 5

The final meeting of our five-week mural workshop will focus on common mural problems and how to solve them, troubleshooting, post-mural cleanup and proper supplies storage.
