A. Such a great question. Most people starting with upholstery and furniture restoration naturally think they should start with a small ‘simple’ project. But if you know nothing about this world or these skills, even the simplest projects can seem overwhelming.
Let’s first ask ourselves… What do you want to get out of this first experience?
Do you want a quick turnover? Get something nice as fast as you can produce it?
Do you have specific skills you’re trying to master?
Do you want to learn as much as possible on your first project so that you can transfer that knowledge to future projects?
I don’t think this project is overzealous. Is it complicated? Potentially. There are a lot of steps, and it won’t go quickly. You’re definitely looking at multiple classes… but everything you learn on this project, you will be able to apply to future projects, making every one you work on after this, that much easier… So, if you have the time and patience, this project is the perfect first project to get your feet wet.
