Beginner Quilt Workshop with Rossie Crafts
Have you ever wanted to make your own quilt from start to finish and feel proud of it? Join us at LullCo Design Studio for a beginner-friendly, hands-on class led by the talented instructor Rossie Hutchinson from Rossie Crafts. No experience necessary.

What you’ll do:

• Learn the fundamentals of quilt construction: choosing fabrics, cutting squares/triangles, piecing blocks, sewing seams, and constructing a simple layout. Rossie uses a thoughtful beginner-friendly block she calls a “flyer”, easy to learn, looks great with lots of fabrics, and gives a perfect intro into half-square triangles and classic quilt geometry.
• Practice straight-forward techniques in a supportive, step-by-step environment. You’ll leave the class with your quilt top assembled and the confidence to finish it.
• Get insights from Rossie’s approach: she emphasizes good fabric choices and quilt construction that works with a wide variety of prints available right here in the studio, so you can make something uniquely you.
• Enjoy time in our beautiful studio space in Ann Arbor, relaxed, inspiring, and full of creative energy.

Who this class is for:

• Absolute beginners to quilting with minimum sewing machine experience (can sew a straight line).
• Sewers who want a structured first-project so they don’t get overwhelmed.
• Makers who love fabric, pattern, color and want to create something functional and beautiful to cherish or gift.

What you’ll walk out with:

• A completed quilt top (lap size) ready for backing and finishing.
• A toolkit of basic quilting skills that you’ll use again and again.
• A supportive community of fellow learners and access to the LullCo space to continue your project.
• Inspiration and guidance to take you from newbie to confident quilter.

• This 4 Week class meets Tuesdays from 10am – 1pm starting on November 18 (break for the holiday).

The entire schedule as follows:

• Location: LullCo Design Studio, 3744 Plaza Dr Ann Arbor
• Class fee: $175 (includes room, guidance, sewing machine if you need it, andaccess to materials. Bring your own fabric, or choose from our selection available for purchase.)
• What to bring: Sewing machine (or you can use one of ours), your own basic sewing supplies (scissors, rotary cutter/board if you have one, or use the tools we have here at the studio), your favourite fabrics (or pick from our discounted studio stash). Rossie will supply the block layout, cutting instructions, and patterns.
• Enrollment is limited to 10 people ensure individual attention.

She chose the flyer block specifically “because it produces a good-looking quilt… covers all the basics of quilt construction without getting too complicated.” That means you’ll learn the important skills and finish something you love without the stress of overly complex pattern pieces.
